GenDC at Work: Enhancing Image Data Transmission Without Loss
At EMVA’s booth during the Vision show in Stuttgart from October 8 to October 10, 2024, Teledyne Adimec and Euresys showcased the “Imagination second year demonstrator” for a second time. This demo highlighted GenDC—a technology designed to improve how image-related information is transmitted alongside visual data.
Sometimes you need to send additional metadata with an image—like frame counts, timestamps, or capture times. Traditionally, this could be done by embedding binary data into the image’s pixel values. However, that method risks degrading the actual image quality because it requires overwriting parts of the raw data.
GenDC offers a better solution: It allows you to transmit such information alongside an image without altering the original pixel data or causing any loss in quality. This is particularly valuable for complex formats like 3D and hyperspectral images, where preserving full fidelity remains critical throughout processing pipelines.
