PENTA MANTIS Vision Project: Advancing Imaging Technologies
The PENTA MANTIS (iMAgiNg Technologies of Industry and Security) Vision project, a collaboration between TNO, IDEAS, Adimec, and Grass Valley, addresses the need for enhanced image capture and processing technologies for broadcasting and high-end security/safety systems.
Over the past decade, advancements in imaging have been significant, driven by transitions to HDTV, 4K ultra HD, high dynamic range, and expanded spectral ranges. The MANTIS Vision project builds upon this progress by focusing on improving image capture systems specifically for these demanding applications.
A key area of exploration is automated person detection, exemplified by a use case developed from the project’s research. The project leverages expertise from IDEAS, TNO, Adimec, and Grass Valley to create a concept for automated operator detection in forestry work.
