ON Semiconductor discontinues CCD image sensors due to market shift towards CMOS
ON Semiconductor has announced the final order acceptance for its CCD sensors and will cease production, closing its plant in Rochester, USA.
According to ON Semiconductor, sales of their CCD image sensors have declined to a level that is no longer sustainable due to the ongoing market shift from CCD to CMOS image sensors. This discontinuation affects all CCD image sensors produced by ON Semiconductor.
The last-time buy order acceptance for CCD image sensors was March 18, 2020, and the final supply date is September 18, 2020.
