Last week marked the 25th annual Vision International Trade Fair in Stuttgart, Germany—a milestone event celebrating two decades of success. The exhibition’s transition to a single expansive hall enhanced its appeal, fostering greater integration within the machine vision industry.

To mark this significant anniversary, we redesigned our booth for improved customer engagement. This year felt like a turning point, and we were honored to celebrate it alongside attendees.

New Interfaces: USB3 Vision Takes Center Stage

The standout trend was the growing adoption of USB3 Vision, with its standard set for release this year. This interface offers extended cable lengths and higher speeds, making it a compelling alternative for applications migrating from older standards. Meanwhile, CoaXPress continues to gain traction as more vendors embrace its maturity, delivering enhanced performance in high-demand sectors.

Market Consolidation and Integration

The industry witnessed further consolidation, with major players acquiring smaller firms offering complementary technologies. This trend streamlines product offerings and provides “out-of-the-box” solutions for businesses seeking integrated systems. However, it also reduces specialization in camera technology, making differentiation harder for image-based OEMs.

Evolving Camera Technology

While no groundbreaking cameras were unveiled, several companies—including Adimec—highlighted advancements like 12-megapixel+ models (e.g., based on the Vita 25k sensor). Others prioritized smaller, cost-effective general-purpose cameras, reflecting a shift toward practicality and accessibility.

Final Thoughts

The Stuttgart exhibition was a rewarding experience, offering valuable opportunities to connect with customers and industry peers. We look forward to seeing you next September at Vision International!
