Allied Vision, a global leader in camera technology and image capture solutions, is partnering with Optotune AG, the market leader in liquid lenses. Together, they will present an integrated system featuring the Alvium camera equipped with Optotune’s liquid lens technology at the upcoming Automate trade show in Chicago.

Live Demonstration

At booth #5255 during the event running from May 6 to 9, 2024, Allied Vision will showcase the Alvium 1800 U-507c camera paired with Sony’s IMX264 sensor. This setup operates at a remarkable 34.0 frames per second in 5.1 MP resolution. The demonstration highlights Optotune’s ELM-25-2.8-18-C lens coupled with the ECC-1C controller.

The live demo will feature multiple Allied Vision cameras positioned at varying distances, demonstrating rapid focus interchange between each unit. A key technical highlight is the use of Allied Vision’s VimbaX SDK in conjunction with custom firmware (officially available in Q3 2024). This combination enables precise lens control via the GenICam standard, showcasing the ability to quickly adapt working distances.

This demonstration is particularly relevant for applications involving fast-moving objects or scenarios where camera-object distance frequently changes.

Optotune has collaborated with optical partners to develop a series of specialized lens modules optimized around their electrically tunable liquid lenses. These integrated solutions simplify vision system design while offering optically optimized performance.
