Allied Vision Announces Alvium USB Cameras With Short Delivery Times
As many camera manufacturers face challenges on the chip market, Allied Vision has introduced its Alvium USB cameras, powered by ALVIUM® Technology. Unlike most industrial USB cameras that rely on third-party FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) chips, these models use a proprietary ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit). This allows Allied Vision to handle the development, production, and delivery of this key component entirely in-house, ensuring faster camera availability when needed.
High-Quality USB Cameras With Sony Sensors
Allied Vision continues to expand its Alvium 1800 U camera series with advanced models featuring powerful capabilities. The latest additions—Alvium 1800 U-511, Alvium 1800 U-811, and Alvium 1800 U-1242—are equipped with Sony IMX Pregius S 4th generation sensors, offering enhanced features.
Alvium 1800 U-511:
This model uses the Sony IMX547 sensor—a compact global shutter sensor measuring 1/1.8’’ in optical format and boasting 5.1 Megapixels. It is ideal for use with Allied Vision’s S-mount lenses, marking it as the first Sony sensor of this resolution suited for such applications. Despite its smaller size compared to similar sensors like the IMX264 (which shares the same aspect ratio at a higher resolution), it maintains comparable performance while offering higher pixel density than the popular Sony IMX265 found in other models, making it an excellent substitute for cameras with older-generation sensors.
Alvium 1800 U-811:
Featuring a square Sony IMX546 sensor providing 8.1 Megapixel resolution, this camera is well-suited for tasks involving circular or square objects and microscopy applications due to its unique shape.
Alvium 1800 U-1242:
The flagship model with Sony IMX545 sensor delivers a 12.4-megapixel image. With smaller pixels (2.74 µm), it achieves the same resolution as second-generation Sony sensors, such as the IMX304, but in a more compact design.
