Allied Vision will be among the first camera manufacturers to integrate Sony’s new IMX990 and IMX991 InGaAs sensors into its Goldeye SWIR camera series, scheduled for early 2021. This expansion includes four models with innovative sensors that are sensitive in both visible (400 nm) and short-wave infrared (SWIR) ranges.

With over three decades of experience developing industrial cameras in the visible and infrared spectrums, Allied Vision is well-positioned to offer prototype test cameras equipped with these new image sensors. Their close partnership with Sony further facilitates early access to this technology. Series production for initial models is planned for summer 2021.

SenSWIR Sensor Technology

The new sensors leverage Sony’s SenSWIR technology to achieve a quantum leap in pixel size and image homogeneity while enabling high-quantum-efficiency imaging across visible (400 nm) to SWIR (1700 nm) ranges. This innovation significantly expands application possibilities, particularly through the availability of a compact ½ inch SXGA sensor with only 5 µm pixels.

New Goldeye Model Specifications

G/CL-130

  • Sensor: IMX990 (1.3MP)
  • Frame Rate:
    • CameraLink interface: up to 110 fps
    • GigE Vision interface: up to 94 fps

G/CL-030

  • Sensor: IMX991 (¼ inch VGA, undated model)
  • Frame Rate: Up to 258 fps regardless of interface (GigE Vision or CameraLink)

Design and Performance Features

All new models feature a robust, compact industrial design without fans. Integrated single-stage sensor cooling (TEC1) and image correction functions enhance performance. Comprehensive I/O options and GenICam compliance simplify system integration.

Allied Vision’s SWIR Expertise

With years of experience in InGaAs-based SWIR camera development, Allied Vision offers models with various resolutions (QVGA/VGA), cooling capabilities (single-stage/none), and specialized features for scientific applications requiring long exposures. These cameras provide outstanding image quality across multiple application areas.

The company’s commitment to quality is underscored by offering a 3-year guarantee—unprecedented in the SWIR camera market—ensuring an unmatched out-of-the-box experience with their Goldeye series.
