Allied Vision Debuts at CVPR 2019 with Advanced Camera Solutions

This year, Allied Vision will be making its debut at the prestigious Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference (CVPR) in Long Beach. The company aims to showcase its cutting-edge camera technologies, including the innovative Alvium series and Goldeye SWIR cameras.

Key Highlights

Alvium Camera Series: Industrial Machine Vision for Embedded Systems

The Alvium Camera Series offers embedded system designers a powerful solution that bridges industrial machine vision capabilities with compact, efficient camera modules. This platform is designed to meet both industrial and embedded vision requirements through its unique ALVIUM® Technology, which includes a proprietary application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) equipped with an image signal processor (IPS).

This technology integrates seamlessly with a comprehensive image processing library (IPL), optimizing the system for advanced digital imaging tasks. A key advantage is that ALVIUM® handles critical image correction and optimization directly within the camera, freeing up host system resources for other applications.

Simplified Integration

Allvium simplifies integration in two main ways:

  1. Flexible Housing Options: Available in bare board, open, or closed configurations, allowing designers to choose based on space constraints.
  2. Universal Driver Support: A single driver per host platform enables compatibility with all Alvium models.

Platform Compatibility

Alvium supports a range of embedded platforms, including NXP i.MX6/8 and NVIDIA Jetson systems, with future plans for the iMX8M and Jetson AGX Xavier.

The cameras can be controlled via various protocols: Video4Linux (V4L2), GStreamer, Direct Register Access, and GenICam.

Sensor Flexibility

ALVIUM® Technology’s ASIC supports all common sensor interfaces, enabling quick integration of new sensors. Resolution options range from VGA to 21 megapixels, with MIPI CSI-2 or USB3 Vision interfaces available.

Alvium Models

Model Interface Feature Set Camera Control Housing Options
Alvium 1500 MIPI CSI-2 Basic V4L2, Direct Register Bare Board, Open Housing
Alvium 1800 USB3 Vision Advanced GenICam Bare Board, Open Housing, Closed

Goldeye SWIR Cameras

These cameras utilize InGaAs sensor technology sensitive to the short-wave infrared spectrum (900–1700 nm), making them ideal for LiDAR laser profiling.

  • Compact Design: Ruggedized housing measuring 55mm x 55mm x 78 mm.
  • Key Features: Integrated thermal cooling and comprehensive I/O controls.

Available Models

Three models are available with GigE or Camera Link interfaces:

Model Resolution/Interface FPS
Goldeye G/CL-008 TEC1 320 x 256 resolution / CL 344 fps
Goldeye G/CL-032 TEC1 0.3 Megapixel / CL 100 fps
Goldeye G/CL-033 TEC1 0.3 Megapixel / CL 301 fps

A TECless variant of the Goldeye G-033 is also available.
