On October 10, 2018, a product news announcement highlighted two ultra-compact Mako cameras capable of quickly identifying faulty parts. These cameras are designed to perform advanced image processing tasks without the need for a personal computer (PC). Instead, they rely on a System-on-Module (SoM) connected via a standard carrier board to provide computing power.

The system consists of two Mako cameras:

  1. Mako G-319C: Equipped with a GigE Vision interface.
  2. Mako U-130B: Features a USB3 Vision interface.

These cameras capture images of inspection targets (USB flash drives) placed on a turntable, which are triggered by an external light barrier. The image analysis is performed using OpenCV, an open-source computer vision library. This tool enables blob contour checks and logo detection for images captured by the Mako U camera, as well as logo color verification with the Mako G camera.
