On February 15, 2018, Allied Vision announced the expansion of its popular Manta camera family with two new models: the Manta G-158 featuring Sony’s IMX273 sensor and the Manta G-040 equipped with Sony’s IMX287 sensor. These cameras represent a significant advancement in industrial imaging technology, offering high performance and innovative features.

Enhanced Performance The new Manta models incorporate second-generation Sony IMX CMOS sensors featuring Pregius global shutter pixel technology. This enables exceptional image quality even at high speeds. The Manta G-158 provides 1.58 megapixels resolution with a frame rate of 75.3 fps, while the faster Manta G-040 offers 0.40 megapixels resolution and an impressive 286 fps. Burst mode allows for even higher speeds when needed.

Ideal for Industrial Applications These cameras are specifically designed for industrial applications requiring precise imaging of fast-moving objects. Their superior performance makes them excellent candidates to replace existing CCD cameras with similar resolution (e.g., those using Sony ICX424 or ICX445 CCD sensors). Key features include three look-up tables, sophisticated color correction capabilities, robust metal housing, and numerous modular options including a board-level version.

Single Cable Solution A standout feature is the Trigger over Ethernet (ToE) capability. This allows users to trigger GigE cameras through an Ethernet cable, enabling single-cable solutions with data, power, and triggering all in one connection. All action command configurations can be saved in the camera’s user sets for easy recall.

Versatile Camera Platform The Manta family is known for its versatility and extensive feature set. Users benefit from a modular concept that offers various hardware options including Power over Ethernet, angled heads, optical filters, lens mounts, and board-level variants to facilitate integration into diverse applications. Software integration is also straightforward with support for popular image-processing libraries and the user-friendly Vimba SDK.

Color Options Available Both models will be available in color and monochrome versions, providing flexibility for different lighting conditions and application requirements.
