Multicast mode enables a camera to transmit image data across all hosts on its subnet. The host that initiates multicast becomes the master, managing camera parameters. Other devices act as monitors, displaying received images.

All Allied Vision GigE cameras support this feature, accessible via Vimba, PvAPI, or third-party SDKs. Once enabled, the camera sends images to a multicast address, allowing any network device to receive them.

Multicast enhances applications by enabling:

  • Different image processing tasks on separate systems
  • Parallel image processing across multiple PCs
  • System monitoring
