Basler AG, a leading supplier of image processing components for computer vision applications, today released its audited annual report for fiscal year 2021.

Operating in a challenging market environment marked by semiconductor component shortages, the Basler group achieved solid growth in financial year 2021. Sales increased by 26% to €214.7 million (previously €170.5 million). Incoming orders surged by 78% to €322.5 million (previously €181.6 million), setting new records for both metrics.

Financial performance also showed significant improvement with earnings before taxes rising by 37% to €28.0 million (previously €20.4 million). The pre-tax margin reached 13.0%, up from last year’s 12.0%. Notably, despite a cyberattack in November, the company exceeded market expectations and outperformed the German machine vision components sector.

Looking ahead to fiscal year 2022:

  • Supply chain constraints for semiconductor components will continue to limit growth
  • Geopolitical tensions related to the war in Ukraine introduce new uncertainties

However, management remains optimistic based on positive sales signals across all regions. The company projects sales between €235 and €265 million, with a pre-tax return ranging from 9% to 12%. This forecast reflects ongoing investment cycles improving supply chains and integration of recent acquisitions.

The outlook aligns with the medium-term target to reach €400 million in annual sales by end-2025, maintaining an average EBT margin of approximately 12%.
