Basler AG Enhances visSWIR Camera Portfolio with High-Resolution Models

Basler AG has introduced four new high-resolution models to its ace 2 X visSWIR camera family. These compact cameras feature Sony’s latest SenSWIR sensors—IMX992 (5 MP) and IMX993 (3 MP)—and are available with either USB 3.0 or GigE interfaces. They complement existing models equipped with the IMX990 (1.3 MP) and IMX991 (VGA) sensors, all of which deliver high image quality in the visible to short-wave infrared spectrum (0.4 µm to 1.7 µm).

High Image Quality via Firmware Innovation

The ace 2 X visSWIR cameras achieve superior performance through innovative firmware that eliminates the need for cooling, enabling a compact design and attractive pricing. Key features include:

  • Pixel Correction Beyond: Detects and corrects defects in InGaAs sensors in real time without distorting image content.
  • Line Noise Reduction: Reduces horizontal bars caused by background noise, ensuring a more uniform image background.

Comprehensive visSWIR Vision System

Beyond cameras, Basler offers an ecosystem of accessories for visSWIR applications, including specialized lenses, illumination solutions, filters, and pylon software. This complete portfolio allows users to build integrated vision systems from a single source.

“Cooling is often necessary in SWIR cameras with InGaAs sensors to address pixel defects, but it increases size and cost,” explains Dr. Melanie Gräsel, Product Manager at Basler. “Our firmware features allow high performance without cooling, delivering compact and affordable solutions.”
