Introducing the Basler Vision Connector: Bridging Cameras and Automation Systems

The inaugural outcome of this alliance is the Basler Vision Connector—an intuitive application that seamlessly integrates Basler’s vision components into Siemens’ Industrial Edge ecosystem. Dr. Dietmar Ley, CEO of Basler AG, highlights its impact: “Being an integral part of this ecosystem lowers integration barriers for our customers to incorporate computer vision into their automation systems.”

Beyond Industrial Edge, the connector will also feature in SIMATIC TIA ecosystem by Siemens, granting users flexibility to select optimal solutions.

This development enhances machine vision utilization. Ley expressed enthusiasm about collaboration with Siemens: combining machine vision expertise and digitalization strengths allows offering pre-tested scenarios and cohesive product options aligned with customer needs.

Expanding Possibilities

Currently marking the beginning of cooperation, future plans include expanding scope by providing Basler’s pylon SDK on Siemens’ devices to enable easier integration of vision tasks—both conventional computer vision functions and machine learning-based assessments. The companies also aim to unify support services for streamlined customer assistance.

Rainer Brehm emphasizes how this collaboration aids complex quality control, minimizes errors in production, addresses skilled worker shortages, and advances sustainable automation.
