Baumer, a prominent company in the machine vision sector, has announced its participation in NVIDIA’s Metropolis program. This initiative aims to accelerate the development and deployment of advanced vision AI applications by fostering an ecosystem that enhances developer tools and optimizes operational efficiency and safety worldwide.

With over two decades of expertise in machine vision, Baumer provides industrial cameras capable of high resolutions up to 65 megapixels and frame rates reaching 1622 fps. To address the need for streamlined image processing without relying on separate computing systems, Baumer introduced the AX Smart Cameras. These devices offer a robust solution that combines both image acquisition and processing into a single compact unit, effectively eliminating additional hardware requirements.

The AX series features Sony CMOS sensors renowned for their performance and integrates NVIDIA Jetson Nano and Xavier NX modules—two leading-edge AI platforms from NVIDIA. Their specialized AI cores and graphics processors are pivotal in enabling sophisticated AI-driven systems. In recognition of its innovative design, the AX series was honored with an inspect award in 2022.

The Metropolis program offers enterprises, governments, and integration partners access to cutting-edge AI tools that enhance operational safety and efficiency through superior computational capabilities. By joining this ecosystem, members benefit from early access to technological updates and collaborative opportunities with leading industry experts.

Jochen Braun, Head of Sales Vision Products at Baumer, emphasized the strategic importance of their collaboration: “Our decision to join NVIDIA Metropolis reflects our commitment to innovation and our vision for leveraging advanced AI technology through our AX smart cameras.”
