In the midst of a challenging chip crisis that has strained the vision market, Baumer has emerged as a silver lining. Following more than a year of disrupted deliveries and sharp price increases for industrial cameras, the company recently resumed standard lead times for its USB camera models—such as the VCXU.

This positive development came after Baumer initiated a redesign effort to address the shortage of FPGAs by replacing them with integrated circuits. The initiative started at the onset of supply issues and has yielded results: eleven key models in Baumer’s versatile USB camera lineup have been back on the market since August 2022.

Jochen Braun, Sales Manager for Vision Products, expressed confidence about this progress. “Both redesigns and Baumer’s swift actions offer a welcome relief to our current and potential customers,” he noted. He also emphasized that events like VISION in Stuttgart provide valuable opportunities for collaboration, adding, “We expect high-resolution GigE cameras to be available again by the end of December 2022.”
