The Baumer CleverLevel PL20 level switch has been recognized as a silver winner in the “Product of the Year” category by readers of the trade magazine Computer & Automation. This achievement highlights its popularity among industrial automation professionals.

In the sensor category, the CleverLevel PL20 secured second place in this year’s competition. Out of 500 nominated products across twelve categories, 96 advanced to the final round. The jury, consisting of 6,500 users and experts, selected the CleverLevel as one of the most favored automation solutions.

The product manager at Baumer, Fabian Manger, expressed his enthusiasm for this award, particularly because it was voted by end-users rather than industry experts. “Users who interact with the sensor daily understand its strengths,” he noted. A standout feature is its automatic media recognition without manual parameterization. This capability allows it to detect diverse materials—from coffee beans to sticky honey or foamy substances—with equal ease.

Beyond its versatility, the CleverLevel PL20 boasts exceptional durability. Constructed from high-quality stainless steel and featuring a hygienic PEEK sensor tip with an integrated IO-Link interface, it adheres to Baumer’s proTect+ sealing concept. The 360° LED status display provides intuitive feedback through color changes, making operation straightforward.

This award is not the first milestone for the CleverLevel PL20. It previously won the Red Dot Design Award in 2021 and continues its success with the original “Product of the Year” trophy made from upcycled wood.
