Baumer has expanded its portfolio of photoelectric sensors by adding two new models: the OT300 and OT500. These sensors combine a large detection range with reliable object recognition, even on challenging surfaces such as shiny or reflective materials. The key to their performance lies in time-of-flight measurement technology, which enables a detection range of up to 2.6 meters for the OT500 and 1.8 meters for the compact OT300.

Reliability in Challenging Conditions

Objects with highly reflective surfaces or specialized coatings—such as car body parts or semiconductor wafers—are notoriously difficult to detect reliably using standard optical sensors. However, these new sensors from Baumer excel in such scenarios. They maintain high reliability even at maximum sensing distances of up to 2.6 meters for the OT500 and 1.8 meters for the OT300.

Simplified Integration and Configuration

Efficiency is critical during machine setup, especially when “time is money” in industries like automotive manufacturing or semiconductor processing. To address this need, Baumer has designed these sensors with ease of integration and configuration in mind:

  • Precise Alignment Support: The 3D CAD data includes an integrated beam path aligned to the mounting holes, along with component tolerance compensation (qTarget).
  • Intuitive Teaching Interface: Users can easily configure settings using qTeach.
  • Standardized IO-Link Interface: Equipped with Smart Sensor Profile (DMSS), this interface enables intuitive parameterization through Baumer’s Sensor Suite and provides valuable secondary sensor data for improved process transparency.

These features ensure seamless integration into complex systems while simplifying setup processes.
