New Baumer Strain Sensors with IO-Link: Revolutionizing Force Measurement in Industrial Applications
Strain sensors represent a highly effective alternative to traditional force measurement solutions. For large forces in particular, they offer significant cost advantages compared to standard force sensors. These devices also allow multiple force ranges to be covered by just one sensor and can be easily integrated into existing machines and systems.
Baumer has now introduced the DST53 and DST76 strain sensors for industrial indoor applications – featuring intelligent IO-Link technology as a standard feature. Thanks to flexible parameterization and smart functions, these devices provide an optimal solution for various application requirements while maximizing machine effectiveness.
New Electronics and Standardized IO-Link Interface
The DSRT strain sensor has been Baumer’s go-to solution for industrial indoor applications for many years. This model is now succeeded by two new generations: the DST76 standard sensor and the DST53 performance model, both featuring improved mechanics with a particularly smooth design.
These innovative sensors incorporate new electronics and an IO-Link interface as standard features alongside analog outputs. These enhancements simplify parameterization, enable simulations and tests, accelerating engineering tasks considerably. The coordinated signals and signal conditioning, combined with smart functions like diagnostic data or filter options, allow for more efficient machine operation.
Versatile Options for Industrial Applications
The DST76 represents the new standard in Baumer’s portfolio of strain sensors for industrial indoor applications. This model offers a customizable measurement range up to ±500 µm/m and is screw-compatible with most 76-mm spaced strain sensors, providing excellent value across various force measurement scenarios.
The DST53 performance model extends this capability significantly, supporting measurements up to ±2000 µm/m thanks to its low rigidity design. Both versions feature silicone-free construction, making them suitable for a wide range of applications in factory automation and mechanical engineering – including use in presses, bending machines, thermoforming equipment, and sheet metal joining systems.
Comprehensive Strain Sensor Solutions
Baumer’s expanded product line now includes specialized models for diverse requirements: the DST20 miniature passive strain sensor represents the smallest screw-in solution available; while the DST55R provides robust performance for harsh outdoor environments with IP69K sealing. With these additions, users can more precisely select appropriate solutions for their specific industrial applications.
