Smart Integration: VeriSens Vision Sensors Control Cobots in Minutes

The VeriSens vision sensors XF900 and XC900 have been designed for seamless integration with Universal Robots’ cobots (collaborating robots). After just a few minutes of setup, these advanced cameras can already manage robotic tasks.

Interface between Verisens and Universal Robot

Universal Robots employs Caps as plug-in interfaces for certified accessories. Think of it like mobile app concepts: software extensions that allow tools such as the Verisens vision sensor to work within their programming environment, PolyScope.

Image processing is entirely configured via the Verisens Application Suite – separate from the cobot itself and optimized specifically for this purpose.

The Verisens URCap provides generic functions applicable across various scenarios. This includes both integrated and fixed positioning of the vision system.

Programming requires only two additional commands, called nodes, to link image processing with robot operations. For instance, object identification or quality control can be triggered by a single node, making results available for decision-making in just minutes. This capability enables cobots to sort items autonomously.

For applications requiring dynamic path adjustments based on visual input—like pick-and-place tasks—the second node is essential. Additionally, an optional assistant simplifies the implementation of such vision-guided robotics workflows.
