On May 21, 2019, Baumer introduced its innovative O200 photoelectric miniature sensors with IO-Link interface. These compact devices are specifically designed to handle demanding detection tasks in confined spaces, offering exceptional reliability even under difficult conditions.

Key Features and Applications

The O200 diffuse sensors feature background suppression and superior ambient light immunity without compromising speed. Their extended functional reserves deliver an impressive range of 120 mm on challenging targets like shiny or dark objects (e.g., mobile phone casings). For increased reach, users can activate the High-Power Mode via IO-Link.

O200 variants with V-optics employ a focused light beam measuring just 1.2 mm in diameter, angled toward the receiver. This design enables precise detection of both small and reflective/transparent objects—ideal for laboratory automation tasks involving ampoules or similar items.

The O200 SmartReflect sensors represent Baumer’s unique solution for compact machine designs, particularly those required in cleanroom environments. These light barriers eliminate the need for reflectors or separate receivers while maintaining high reliability with a maximum range of 180 mm.

For extended detection ranges, the portfolio includes retro-reflective sensors capable of reaching up to four meters and through-beam models extending up to six meters—offering versatile options for various industrial applications.
