Using Baumer CX Series Cameras for Stereo Imaging
Two high-resolution 12 megapixel Baumer CX series cameras are utilized as stereo cameras to capture images and generate 3D representations of objects. These cameras enable precise depth perception by combining two overlapping views, effectively reconstructing a three-dimensional model from the acquired data.
Non-Contact 3D Measurement Across Manufacturing Stages
Non-contact 3D measurements and geometric inspections are applicable at every stage of manufacturing—ranging from initial commissioning to first-article inspections and automated sampling in mass production. This approach allows for rapid detection of deviations or errors, enabling corrective actions to be implemented swiftly. The system captures detailed surface data with minimal point spacing (narrow as required), facilitating comprehensive target/actual comparisons across all surfaces.
The stamp forming industry, among others, increasingly relies on OTTO Vision’s expertise in image processing from Jena. As Gunter Otto, Managing Director of OTTO Vision, notes: “Other sectors are also experiencing significant growth. The plastics industry represents a particular area with substantial potential.”
Streamlined Portfolio for Variable Measuring Fields
OTTO Vision has expanded its product range to cover measuring fields ranging from 20 mm to 200 mm, all achievable using a single device. A notable challenge in optical design was ensuring that adjusting the lens alone would define each specific measurement field, even when operating at fixed distances. This simplifies calibration and deployment across diverse applications without requiring complex hardware modifications.
