Baumer introduces its latest optical sensors, the O200 series, which are remarkably compact—no larger than a paper clip—and packed with advanced features designed to exceed industry standards. These sensors represent a significant leap in performance for miniature optical sensors, offering reliability and efficiency that set them apart from conventional options.

Superior Performance

The O200 sensors boast an impressive array of functions within their standardized miniature housing. Key innovations include the “High-Power-Mode,” which enables reliable detection of ultra-black or light-absorbing objects even at extended distances. Additionally, these sensors demonstrate high immunity to ambient light—whether from bright LEDs emitting similar wavelengths or machine reflections from other sensors—a challenge that typically disrupts conventional optical systems.

Unlike traditional sensors, Baumer’s O200 models ensure consistent detection reliability under any lighting conditions, including on glossy or transparent surfaces. This is achieved through the seamless integration of optical precision, powerful electronics, and cutting-edge algorithms.

Flexible Solutions

The range includes specialized variants tailored for specific applications:

  • V-optics products are designed to handle reflective or transparent objects.
  • SmartReflect sensors eliminate the need for external reflectors, simplifying system design.

Moreover, O200 sensors equipped with IO-Link technology are fully compatible with Industry 4.0 and IIoT standards. These sensors support automatic configuration and provide real-time data such as operating hours or switch-on cycles to optimize performance monitoring. The qTeach feature allows on-site programming directly at the sensor while preventing unauthorized access.

Market Innovation

As a first in the market, O200 sensors now include light beam embedded CAD data—a significant engineering advancement that streamlines design processes and enhances precision.

The O200 series currently encompasses approximately 130 variants with diverse configurations. “This variety ensures every user can find the ideal optical sensor for their application—offering not just standard performance but truly ‘Beyond the Standard,’” notes Andrea Memminger-Wäsch, Senior Marketing Manager at Baumer.

Availability

The O200 sensors will be showcased at SPS IPC Drives from November 27–29 in Nuremberg (Hall 4A, Booth 335). For further details and updates, visit www.baumer.com/O200-beyond starting December.
