O300 Laser Sensors: Tiny Size, Big Performance in Object Recognition
Baumer’s new O300 miniature laser sensors with IO-Link are designed specifically for the reliable detection of very small objects and gaps. These compact devices deliver top performance thanks to their focused laser beam (spot size within 0.1 mm) and high repeat accuracy (±0.1 mm). This combination ensures precise positioning and exact control in follow-up processes.
The sensors also boast an extremely short response time—less than 0.1 ms—which enables reliable detection of closely spaced objects, making them ideal for fast processes with high throughput requirements. A key design feature is the qTarget system, which guarantees pinpoint accuracy across the entire production series by precisely aligning the laser beam to the fixing holes.
The O300 line offers exceptional versatility, providing customized solutions for a wide range of precise detection tasks. Notable among its five sensor principles is SmartReflect, Baumer’s original light barrier technology without additional reflectors. This principle can reliably detect objects as small as 0.5 mm within a sensing distance of 250 mm.
For applications in packaging plants across the food and pharmaceutical industries, stainless steel variants with rugged washdown and hygienic designs expand the typical use cases for O300 laser sensors even further.
The integration of IO-Link makes these sensors “Ready for Industry 4.0.” This technology enables quick configuration using standard network components while also providing valuable data—such as that needed for predictive maintenance—for advanced process optimization.
