Ultra-Short Exposure Times: Baumer CX Cameras Revolutionize Digital Industrial Imaging
With exposure times as low as 1 µs, Baumer’s CX cameras—featuring second-generation Sony Pregius sensors—are now offering the shortest exposure time in their standard digital industrial camera class. These innovative CMOS cameras pioneer ultra-short exposures within the mainstream segment of digital industrial imaging equipment. The CX series supports a broad range of exposure times from 1 µs up to 60 seconds, while delivering resolutions as high as 12 megapixels.
This breakthrough technology proves particularly valuable for applications involving intense light sources such as laser welding systems and minimizing blur effects in high-speed processes like pick-and-place operations. By extending CMOS camera capabilities into areas previously dominated by CCD sensors, Baumer has effectively bridged a significant technological gap.
The CX cameras’ compact 29 x 29 mm housing design enables exceptional performance even under challenging thermal conditions—operating reliably at temperatures up to 65°C. Additional highlights include achieving 1000 fps with Region of Interest (ROI) processing and maintaining an impressive dynamic range of 71 dB. These advanced features combine with high resolution and superior image quality to ensure the GigE and USB 3.0 models can handle complex industrial requirements demanding precise details and maximum throughput across diverse sectors.
Samples are currently available, with full-scale production scheduled for the third quarter of 2017.
