Introducing the New HOG 86+FSL Version by Baumer
Baumer has released an upgraded version of its HOG 86 encoder series with the addition of a mechanical centrifugal switch in the new HOG 86+FSL model. This feature enhances safety for applications requiring highly reliable, energy-self-sufficient overspeed detection.
The HOG 86+FSL employs two methods to achieve speed acquisition: interference-free optical sensing ensures stable incremental output signals even under challenging conditions, while an energy-self-sufficient centrifugal switch provides purely mechanical overspeed detection via a switching output. The factory-preset switch point can be customized by the user.
In addition to doubling the resolution from 2500 to 5000 pulses per revolution across all models, this new version expands the application scope of Baumer’s comprehensive product family. High-performance output drivers guarantee reliable signal transmission up to 550 meters (TTL) and 350 meters (HTL-P). For longer distances or interference-prone environments, Baumer also offers an accessory kit for optical fiber-based signal transmission up to 1500 meters.
The HOG 86 series maintains its core design principles—durable construction with double-sided bearings and long-term stable sealing concept—to ensure extended service life.
