The Imaging Source and Sunvision Showcase Cutting-Edge Industrial Cameras at VISION China Shanghai 2023
The annual VISION China Shanghai exhibition officially kicked off on July 11, 2023. During the three-day event, The Imaging Source and its partner Sunvision presented their latest industrial cameras and imaging solutions to a large audience.
Visitors were able to get hands-on experience with these technologies through engaging live demos at the company’s booth. These demonstrations highlighted practical applications of both standard vision tasks and advanced embedded vision systems.
Toy Factory Demo: A Showcase of Industrial Camera Capabilities
The main demo table featured an interactive toy factory setup demonstrating The Imaging Source’s industrial camera portfolio in action. This dynamic presentation showcased how cameras can reliably handle various image processing tasks:
- Color identification
- Barcode recognition
- Pattern matching
- Metrology
One particularly interesting application was facial recognition on an embedded system, which attracted significant visitor interest. The company’s zoom cameras also performed exceptionally well in capturing QR codes at varying distances and sizes.
Edge Camera: A Compact Solution for Advanced Computer Vision
The Imaging Source’s Edge Camera represents a powerful integrated imaging system combining hardware and software capabilities. This compact platform features the NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX SoM, enabling real-time object detection and complex computer vision tasks.
As demonstrated in the booth, this technology effectively performs sophisticated image processing while maintaining a small footprint ideal for space-constrained applications.
6-Channel Carrier Board with FPD-Link III Cameras
The demo also showcased The Imaging Source’s 6-channel carrier board, which supports up to six FPD-Link⢠III cameras. This system features:
- Six FAKRA camera inputs
- Support for extended cable lengths (over 15 meters)
- High-speed serial interface technology
FPD-Link III cameras transmit data via a MIPI CSI-2 interface with comparable speeds to traditional USB 3.0 interfaces, but without the same distance limitations.
Four cameras were visible on the demo table, while two additional units were placed several meters away to demonstrate the system’s cable length capabilities.
Looking Ahead
The Imaging Source and Sunvision would like to extend special thanks to all partners and visitors who made VISION China Shanghai 2023 a successful event. Their collaboration once again demonstrated how machine vision technologies continue to transform diverse industrial applications.
We look forward to returning in August for Automation Taipei, where we’ll showcase our continued innovation in imaging solutions.
