In previous examples, adjusting focal lengths often requires zoom lenses. However, these lenses come with significant drawbacks—such as weight, size, and cost. As a result, fixed-focus lenses are typically preferred for their reliability and performance. To fully leverage the capabilities of The Imaging Source cameras, we recommend using Pentax or Computar MegaPixel series lenses (as shown in the table below).

To ensure the entire object is captured clearly on the CCD chip, select a lens with a focal length shorter than the calculated value. For instance:

  • Barcode recognition: C2514-M(KP)
  • Fruit sorting: C1614-M(KP)
  • Eye inspection: C3516-M(KP)
  • Number plate recognition: C5028-M(KP)

Note: The lens format must be equal to or larger than the CCD chip’s format.
