IC Imaging Control now fully compatible with Windows Vista
IC Imaging Control Compatible with Windows Vista
As reported by Stefan Geißler on the IC Imaging Control blog, the software is now fully compatible with Microsoft® Windows Vista™. Here’s a detailed breakdown of his findings:
Compatibility Overview
- Windows Vista 32-bit: All components of IC Imaging Control (C++ Class Library, ActiveX control, and .NET control) work seamlessly.
- Visual Basic 6 Integration: Users can use VB 6 with IC Imaging Control 3.0 on Windows Vista by starting Visual Basic 6 as an administrator once. Subsequent launches will proceed without issues, but direct execution may trigger registry access errors.
However, Stefan advises transitioning to newer IDEs like Visual Studio® 2005 for better compatibility and support. While VB 6 works temporarily with the initial admin launch, it is not recommended long-term due to Vista’s security enhancements.
Windows Vista 64-bit Support
Currently, IC Imaging Control has no official support for Windows Vista 64-bit because The Imaging Source FireWire cameras lack compatible drivers. Development of these drivers is ongoing and expected soon.
In summary, IC Imaging Control runs well on most Vista configurations with minor adjustments required for legacy software setups. Keep an eye out for updates as driver development progresses!
