SVS-Vistek Introduces New High-Resolution SWIR Cameras with Sony IMX992 and IMX993 Sensors
On March 14, 2024, SVS-Vistek announced the launch of new variants in its FXO camera series. These cameras feature Sony’s cutting-edge InGaAs sensors—specifically the IMX992 and IMX993—which are designed for high-resolution shortwave infrared (SWIR) imaging.
Key Specifications
The fxo992 model provides a 5.2-megapixel resolution at up to 132.6fps, while the fxo993 offers 3.1 megapixels with a maximum frame rate of 173.4fps. Both models are equipped with either a 10GigE or CoaXPress-12 interface, making them among the fastest SWIR cameras available today.
Thermoelectric cooling (TEC) is optional, allowing flexibility in application requirements.
Applications and Benefits
SWIR imaging enables visualization of invisible details in various inspection tasks. This technology leverages unique spectral properties of materials to detect substances, contaminants, or defects that are not visible with standard cameras.
Common use cases include:
- Semiconductor quality control (including subsurface analysis)
- Inspection of opaque containers
- Coating monitoring and substance detection
- Agricultural and food industry surveillance
These cameras also support tasks such as battery inspection, gemstone evaluation, glass defect detection, laser alignment, and recycling process monitoring.
Technical Highlights
The new FXO models incorporate several industrial-grade features:
- Multichannel Strobe Controller: For precise illumination control.
- GenICam Interface: Ensures compatibility with standard camera configurations.
- Image Optimization Tools: Includes defect pixel correction and Non Uniformity Correction (NUC).
Their compact dimensions—50mm × 50mm (W×H)—are ideal for space-sensitive automation setups. Optional cooling systems further enhance stability in demanding environments.
Accessories
SVS-Vistek provides complementary accessories, including C-mount lenses, cables, and specialized lighting optimized for SWIR wavelengths to help users build integrated inspection systems.
