Introducing the FXO Camera Series from SVS-Vistek

The FXO represents a new camera series from SVS-Vistek, featuring initial models equipped with Sony Pregius generation-4 sensors—specifically the IMX540, IMX541, and IMX542. Despite their compact 2.74 µm pixels, these image sensors exhibit exceptional light sensitivity due to advanced “backside illuminated” technology. They deliver a dynamic range of roughly 70 dB and demonstrate outstanding homogeneity.
Additionally, the new sensor design supports an extended angle of view, minimizing sensor-based shading effects—especially with short focal lengths. The compact sensor size also enables smaller, more cost-effective lenses™ (see Pregius S-Sensors from Sony for Machine Vision). This contributes to a more economical image acquisition process.
Latest Interface Technology
The FXO series supports CoaXPress-12 or 10GigE as interfaces. Both enable maximum sensor frame rates. While 10GigE is cost-effective, CoaXPress offers deterministic timing, high data transfer rates, and a jitter-free software shutter.
Outstanding Feature Set
The FXO series incorporates SVS-Vistek’s flexible I/O concept with an integrated strobe controller. It features a robust set of capabilities, including ROI (Region of Interest) and binning functionalities.
Furthermore, separate readout paths for the sensor and camera allow advanced processing:
- The 4th-generation Pregius sensors support both 8-bit and 12-bit readouts.
- The FXO supports internal 12-bit sensor readout with additional camera processing (e.g., lookup tables or shading control).
- It can optionally output images in either 12-bit or 8-bit formats.
- Reading out the sensor using an 8-bit format is also supported.
