SVS-Vistek has recently introduced a new line of high-quality CMOS cameras featuring an M42 mount. This development enables the integration of sensors with larger pixel sizes—specifically 3.45 x 3.45 μm—into their EXO series, offering significant advantages for users.

New Model Offerings

The latest additions to the lineup include two models based on Sony Pregius IMX sensors:

  • The exo387GE with a resolution of 16.8 MP
  • The exo367GE with a resolution of 19.6 MP

These cameras follow the successful exo342GE model (31.4 MP), both benefiting from the large pixel size that ensures high photosensitivity and minimal noise. Additionally, they boast an impressive dynamic range exceeding 70 dB.

Compatibility with Lenses

The quality of the final image depends on the combination of camera and lens. Due to their large pixels, these EXO cameras are compatible with a wide variety of M42 lenses from multiple manufacturers. The nearly square sensor on the exo367GE and the rectangular sensors on the exo387GE and exo342GE provide optimal conditions for diverse applications.

Performance Considerations

While the EXO series adheres to the standard GigE Vision specification (GenICam), their high resolutions result in lower frame rates. However, this is typically adequate for most use cases. For faster performance, models like the exo387GE and exo367GE are available with USB3 Vision Interface. The hr342GE and hr387GE can also be equipped with a super-fast 10 GigE interface.

All SVS-Vistek cameras feature built-in strobe controllers for managing up to four independent LED illuminations, providing enhanced control options.

Broader Coverage

The expanded EXO series now covers resolutions from 2 MP to 31 MP. Additional interfaces, including USB3 Vision and 10 GigE, are available for higher-speed applications. For even greater resolution requirements, SVS-Vistek’s HR and SHR series offer further options.
