New SVS-Vistek EXO Cameras Deliver 31 MP Resolution, Pregius Gen2 Sensors, and Flexible Lens Options
High resolutions up to 31 megapixel combined with exceptional image quality in a compact form factor define the new EXO series cameras. These devices also support variable lenses via tracer versions, offering enhanced flexibility.
EXO Cameras Deliver High-Resolution Imaging
SVS-Vistek has expanded its lineup of USB3 Vision industrial cameras by introducing ten new models from the EXO series (exo342, exo387, exo367) in early 2019. These cameras feature resolutions of 31, 19, and 17 megapixels, powered by Sony’s latest Pregius Gen2 CMOS sensors.
These advanced sensors boast large square pixels (3.45 µm × 3.45 µm), making them highly sensitive with an exceptional dynamic range—ideal for capturing detailed images in challenging lighting conditions.
Flexible Lens Compatibility
The EXO Series is compatible with a wide array of cost-effective lenses, thanks to its small front-panel size (58 x 58 mm). These cameras support APS-C and Four-Thirds sensor formats. For high-resolution applications, users can also utilize M42-mount or SVS-Vistek’s supported MFT-mount lenses.
The large pixel dimensions pair well with SVS-Vistek’s extensive lens selection—ensuring optimal optical performance for any application while maintaining cost-effective solutions from a single source.
High-Speed USB3 Performance
Despite their high resolutions, the EXO models deliver impressive speed. They support a maximum net bandwidth of 360 MB/s on USB3 Vision, achieving frame rates of up to 21.5 images per second (IPs). This fast transmission allows ample time for subsequent image analysis.
Higher speeds will be available in Q2 via advanced interfaces like CoaXPress and 10 GigE for the HR Series cameras.
Integrated Features Enhance Functionality
The EXO Series includes an integrated 4-channel strobe controller, eliminating the need for additional hardware. Advanced sequencer functions, precision-machined enclosures, and superior thermal management ensure reliable performance across varying temperatures.
In Tracer versions of the EXO series, users can control focusable MFT lenses via GenICam commands—resetting settings within milliseconds to adapt to new tasks. These variants streamline integration by managing sensor, lighting, and lens operations through a single interface.
Versatile Applications
The new Pregius Gen2 sensors from Sony are available starting in Q1 2019, with corresponding SVS-Vistek cameras expected later that quarter. The compact design and superior image quality of the EXO Series make them ideal for high-resolution use cases across industries—including machine vision, traffic technology, photogrammetry, security systems, and automated inspections (e.g., solar panels, wafers, displays).
