As a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies (NYSE: TDY), Teledyne DALSA stands as a global leader in machine vision technology. The company is pleased to announce the release of a radiometric version of its compact MicroCalibir™ Long Wave Infrared (LWIR) camera platform, designed for precise temperature measurements with an accuracy of ±2°C or ±2%.

This innovative solution was developed and manufactured entirely in Canada, leveraging the latest advancements from Teledyne DALSA. The integration of proprietary 12 μm microbolometer pixel technology with a deep-ADC ROIC circuit has enabled this platform to deliver absolute temperature information with a noise equivalent temperature difference (NETD) below 50 mK while maintaining an intrinsic dynamic range exceeding 650°C. These features make it exceptionally suitable for industrial process monitoring and maintenance, security and surveillance, as well as search and rescue applications.

The MicroCalibir camera comes in two resolution options: VGA (640 x 480 pixels) or QVGA (320 x 240 pixels). It is available with various interfaces including parallel, USB, or MIPI CSI2 for video output. To facilitate easier integration, the camera core can be supplied without a housing and equipped with either an M24 interface (for VGA format) or an M18 optical interface (for QVGA format).

Despite its compact size—measuring just 21 mm x 21 mm x 22.7 mm with lens mount and electronics boards—and weighing less than 20 grams—the camera maintains the same NETD levels and image quality performance as previous models. This SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) optimization makes it ideal for applications where space and power constraints are critical.

Global Support and Future Developments

Technical support is available worldwide to assist with integration and custom requirements. Additionally, specific Look-Up Tables (LUTs) have been developed to simplify the integration process.

This radiometric capability will also be integrated into the next release of Teledyne DALSA’s Calibir GX series cameras later this year, expanding its accessibility across various applications.
