Teledyne FLIR IIS Launches Dragonfly® S USB3 Camera Series: A Modular Revolution in Machine Vision
Richmond, CANADA – January 23, 2024 – Teledyne FLIR IIS (formerly Point Grey Research), a pioneer in the area scan USB concept, today announced the addition of the Dragonfly® S USB3 camera series to its machine vision portfolio. This new offering underscores Teledyne’s ongoing commitment to advancing industry standards and supporting customer success through innovation.
The Dragonfly® S series addresses critical market demands for modular, compact, and lightweight cameras tailored for large-scale manufacturing, volume-based applications, and multi-camera systems. Its design accelerates the development of imaging solutions across various industrial and non-industrial sectors by streamlining the initial stages of application creation.
“This is a first-of-its-kind practical option for factory automation and embedded vision device manufacturers,” stated Sadiq Panjwani, General Manager at Teledyne IIS. “The modular concept empowers engineers to test, develop, and deliver competitive vision products efficiently.”
Key Features
The Dragonfly® S series is versatile, ideal for applications such as biometric kiosks, ophthalmoscopy, 3D scanning, automated optical inspection, and more. It comes in multiple configurations—from board-level designs to fully enclosed modules housed in ruggedized aluminum cases—with USB connectors available in rear or side orientations featuring screw-in locking mechanisms.
These modular options maximize flexibility and durability, enabling seamless integration into confined spaces. Models with enclosures are Class B EMC compliant, ensuring electromagnetic interference mitigation for use in healthcare and residential settings. An onboard image buffer guarantees reliable data transfer to the host CPU.
Availability
The inaugural model of the Dragonfly S series is now available for pre-order, with additional models ranging from VGA to 8MP expected throughout 2024. For further details, please visit www.teledyneflir.com/mv.
