Teledyne DALSA, a company under the umbrella of Teledyne Technologies (NYSE: TDY), is pleased to announce that its Linea™ HS 16k Backside Illuminated (BSI) TDI camera has entered production. This advanced imaging solution features a CLHS interface and is designed for high sensitivity in Near Ultraviolet (NUV) and visible light applications, making it ideal for wafer inspection, flat panel display examination, electronic packaging analysis, photoluminescence measurement, and life science imaging.

The new Linea HS 16k BSI camera leverages Teledyne DALSA’s charge-domain CMOS TDI technology with a 5x5 μm pixel pitch. It achieves a maximum aggregate line rate of 400 kHz. Compared to Front Side Illuminated (FSI) models, the BSI variant demonstrates superior quantum efficiency in near ultraviolet and visible wavelengths while improving signal-to-noise ratios for applications requiring high sensitivity under low-light conditions.

As part of the industry-leading Linea HS TDI product family known for high-speed imaging capabilities, this camera also retains compatibility with existing systems. Designed using multi-array charge-domain CMOS TDI technology, it supports advanced features such as mono/HDR imaging, color capture, multifield acquisition, and super resolution—all essential for demanding machine vision applications.

The Linea HS 16k BSI maintains the same form factor as its predecessor (the FSI model), facilitating straightforward upgrades of current systems. Data transmission is handled via a CLHS interface that provides up to 6.5GPix/sec throughput through a single cable connection. The use of active optical cables eliminates the need for repeaters, enhancing data reliability while reducing system costs.
