Introduction

Teledyne DALSA is pleased to announce the launch of AxCIS™, a new family of high-speed and high-resolution fully integrated line scan imaging modules. These Contact Image Sensors (CIS) combine sensors, lenses, and lights into a single unit, providing a cost-effective inspection system for demanding machine vision applications.

Key Features

  • Advanced Quadlinear CMOS Sensors: AxCIS utilizes Teledyne’s new quadlinear CMOS image sensors, delivering up to 120 kHz line rates for monochrome imaging and 60 kHz x 3 for color at a resolution of 900 dpi. This enables defect detection with unprecedented precision.
  • Unique Staggered Sensor Design: The design ensures full field-of-view coverage without missing pixels, resulting in a seamless 100% image without interpolation.
  • HDR Imaging: Using a dual exposure mode, AxCIS achieves HDR imaging for improved detectability of highly reflective materials and enhanced dynamic range.

Availability and Interface

AxCIS is initially available in widths ranging from 400mm to 800mm (in increments of 100mm), making it suitable for systems with limited vertical clearance. The Camera Link HS SFP+ fiberoptic interface transmits high-resolution images reliably over standard low-cost cables, up to a length of 300 meters.

Expert Insight

Xing-Fei He, Senior Product Manager at Teledyne DALSA, highlights the versatility of AxCIS: “AxCIS offers a fully integrated, easy-to-use imaging solution for space-limited systems such as print and web inspection. Superior image quality combined with HDR mode significantly improves detectability in demanding applications like Li battery inspection.”

Event and Further Information

Live demonstrations of AxCIS will be showcased at VISION Stuttgart from October 4-6. For more details, visit the AxCIS product page or contact our team for sales inquiries.
