Announcing Forge 5GigE Area Scan Camera Family
On September 5th, 2022, Teledyne FLIR is pleased to introduce the Forge 5GigE area scan camera family for machine vision. Built on a modern platform, Forge delivers an unparalleled combination of advanced imaging features and is engineered to tackle complex vision system challenges now and in the future.
Availability
Available starting in Q4, the initial models expand upon the Genie Nano 5GigE sensor offering by incorporating Sony Pregius Gen 4 Global Shutter CMOS sensors with resolutions ranging from 5 to 24 MP. In addition to supporting link speeds of 1, 2.5, and 5 GigE, Forge offers burst mode for capturing images at up to 10Gb/s into memory. This capability, combined with a 500 MB image buffer, enables engineers to quickly gather data in high-speed applications. The Trigger-to-Image Reliability (T2IR) framework provides tools to develop reliable and robust systems faster.
Simplified OEM Integration
Forge is designed to simplify OEM integration with features such as Power over Ethernet (PoE), strong thermal management, and opto-isolated triggering for streamlined peripherals and easier camera control. System engineers can replace existing GigE Vision compliant cameras with Forge models to enhance system performance without modifying their application software. Additionally, Forge supports both Teledyne Spinnaker and Sapera LT SDKs as well as GigE Vision-compliant software packages.
Ideal Applications
Forge is ideal for high-speed applications in factory automation, including electronics inspection, food processing, pharmaceuticals, sports analytics, and virtual reality motion capture.
Sadiq Panjwani, General Manager of Teledyne FLIR IIS, stated: “Forge is the first area scan camera family to harness the combined wealth of customer knowledge and technical expertise from Teledyne FLIR, Teledyne DALSA, and Teledyne Lumenera. It is designed from the ground up to empower systems engineers to quickly develop highly reliable and competitive products.”
Compact Design
Like all Teledyne FLIR machine vision cameras, Forge features a compact form factor for easy integration, an all-metal body with a 3-year warranty, and access to rich online resources as well as world-class technical support.
The new Forge area scan platform will be showcased at the upcoming Vision show in Stuttgart and the following week at the Vision Show in Boston.
