Waterloo, CANADA – May 19, 2022 – Teledyne is pleased to announce the release of Sapera Vision Software Edition 2022-05. This update enhances image acquisition, control, processing, and artificial intelligence capabilities for machine vision applications.

The latest upgrades focus on improving tools like Astrocyte™ for AI training and Sapera Processing for library functions. Key highlights include:

  • A tiling feature that allows users to detect the smallest defects on large images at native resolution.
  • Enhanced anomaly detection algorithms optimized for low-to-medium resolutions.
  • Integration of YOLOX, a high-performance object detection algorithm with reduced computational footprint.
  • Support for processing non-square images while maintaining original aspect ratios during training and inference.

Brandon Hunt, Product Manager for Teledyne’s Vision Solutions group, emphasized the improvements: “The new tiling feature enables precise defect detection on large-scale images, while enhanced anomaly algorithms deliver better performance across resolutions. Sapera Processing 9.30 also includes live video acquisition from frame grabbers and other functionalities to boost user experience.”

Sapera Vision Software is widely used in industries such as metal surface inspection, hardware part identification, vehicle detection and segmentation, and medical imaging for noise reduction.
