Teledyne Imaging, a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies (NYSE: TDY), has launched the Z-TrakTM2 family of 3D profile sensors. These innovative devices are built on Teledyne Imaging’s advanced 3D image sensor technology and represent a new generation of high-speed 5GigE 3D sensors for inline applications. The Z-Trak2 models can scan up to 45,000 profiles per second with integrated HDR and reflection compensation algorithms that handle varying surface reflectivity in a single scan. This capability enables precise inline height measurements for inspection, detection, and guidance across industries including electronics, semiconductors, automotive, and factory automation.

Within the Z-Trak2 lineup, the S-2K series operates at 45,000 profiles per second while the V-2K series handles up to 10,000 profiles per second. All models feature 2,000 points per profile and are factory calibrated with eye-safe laser options (blue or red) for various surface properties and environments. The sensors are housed in IP67-rated enclosures designed for harsh conditions and come bundled with Sherlock 8—a rapid application development software package featuring a point-and-click interface.

“We’re pleased to introduce the Z-Trak2 family, specifically engineered for production-floor applications requiring inline height measurements,” stated Ghislain Beaupré, Vice President and GM of Teledyne DALSA. “The combination of high performance with user-friendly features at an accessible price point makes this series ideal across diverse industrial settings. The varied model offerings provide exceptional value and flexibility for different object sizes and surface types.”

New Z-Trak2 Sensors Enable Accurate Inline Height Measurements

Alongside the sensor launch, Teledyne Imaging introduced Sapera Z-Expert with its latest Sapera LT SDK version 8.60. This graphical configuration tool streamlines setup and calibration of the entire Z-Trak family through an intuitive interface. Key features include creating a unified measurement space using up to 16 sensors simultaneously, real-time visualization of profiles and 3D surfaces, and multi-sensor synchronization capabilities.
