Announcing New High-Performance CMOS Imaging Sensors from e2v
e2v, a global leader in high-performance imaging solutions, today announced the launch of two advanced devices from its Ruby family of CMOS imaging sensors: the EV76C660 and EV76C661. These new sensors break through traditional front side illuminated sensor limitations by offering exceptional sensitivity and an extended wavelength range, marking a significant leap in imaging technology.
Key Features
The Ruby sensors are derived from e2v’s highly regarded Sapphire CMOS sensors, featuring a pixel size of 5.3 μm, Quantum Efficiency (QE) exceeding 80%, and outstanding performance in the near-infrared spectrum (>50% at 850nm). Both models significantly reduce system illumination requirements or enable ultra-low-light imaging in outdoor camera applications.
With identical packaging, pin-out configurations, and software interfaces to e2v’s Sapphire family, customers can seamlessly integrate these sensors into industrial cameras without additional hardware or software development costs.
Tailored Applications
The Ruby EV76C660 is optimized for rolling shutter operation, combining high sensitivity with low noise—making it ideal for night vision systems and outdoor security cameras requiring exceptional clarity in low-light conditions. Meanwhile, the Ruby EV76C661 excels in capturing fast-moving objects thanks to its best-in-class global shutter efficiency and extended wavelength sensitivity, making it suitable for machine vision and intelligent traffic monitoring applications.
Industry Expert Insight
Frederic Devriere, Marketing Manager at e2v commented: “The low power consumption of these new Ruby sensors makes them ideal for handheld devices or personal equipment. We’ve received positive feedback from key customers who found the integration process straightforward while achieving groundbreaking performance. Their enhanced sensitivity combined with an extended wavelength range delivers exceptional value in today’s market.”
